Developing a microgrid test and demonstration container and a digitial simulation room
TerraTechnica connects demand-driven education, applied research and entrepreneurship with the ambition to become the expertise and innovation platform for sustainable energy technology in the Netherlands. It is a network consisting of entrepreneurs, schools, students, municipalities, province and regional partners who work together towards a sustainable world.
In a partnership with TerraTechnica we develop two facilities, a microgrid test and demonstration container and a digitial simulation room.
The container can be used "on location" as a demo or test facility to demonstrate a microgrid but also to do tests on location. Simulations from the digital simulation room can be tested in practice.
In the container there is a ‘demand side’ with all kind of appliances and a production side with a wind turbine, solar, a battery and a diesel aggregate.
The digital simulation room provides insight into the operation of an off grid / microgrid. Another name is a digital twin. It is a room with large screens, touchtables in the middle and computers to start simulations (two desks) Simulations are performed in the room with actual loads. Simulations of weather conditions are simulated. On screens, a "time lapse" displays a period and also consumption flows.
